Welcome to The Second BJ-HK International Doctoral Forum 2007

Web, Network, and Media Computing

July 3-6, 2007
Hong Kong, SAR

Dear PhD Candidates,

As General Co-chairs of the Second BJ-HK International Doctoral Forum 2007, we are delighted to invite you to attend the forum to be held July 3-6, 2007, in Hong Kong. This is the premier scientific meeting designed to address the research and educational needs of PhD candidates who are involved in the field of Network and Multimedia.

The theme of this year’s forum is “Network and Media Computing”. We plan to maintain our focus on the increasing growth in these areas with special emphases on Network Modeling and Design, Multimedia Computing, Network Multimedia Applications and Systems, and Web Intelligence.

The forum will consist of keynote addresses, invited speeches, panel discussions, technical presentations, posters, tutorials, and demonstrations. In addition to the technical activities of the forum, there will be ample of opportunities for delegates to network through cultural and social events. There will be time for sightseeing around Hong Kong and also a visit to Tsinghua Graduate School in Shenzhen.

Although we expect attendance this year to be the highest ever, spaces will be limited. With the support from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and other sponsors to cover major part of the local expenses, e.g., local transportation, accommodations, and food, the forum has a limited number of registrations available, making this a high-selective professional forum.

When you come to Hong Kong, you may want to set aside a few extra days for sightseeing the “Fragrant Harbor” and her surrounding regions. As a dynamic international metropolis, Hong Kong is well known for her diversity as well as the harmonious blend of the tradition and the modern, the East and West.

In closing, we would be pleased with your participation in this momentous event. We look forward to seeing you in Hong Kong this July.

Sincerely Yours,

Prof. Helen Meng and Prof. Irwin King
The Chinese University of Hong Kong
General Co-chairs

A Note about Expenses

All expenses within the forum of the attendees will be covered by CUHK, including registration, meals, accommodation, and local transportation fees, etc.
